Leslie Andrew Gugyelka

LESLIE ANDREW GUGYELKA of Lethbridge passed away Monday, January 16, 2012 at the age of 86. His posterity includes his son Les (Janet), their children Darren (Natasha), Natasha (Quinn), Ryan (Amanda), Lacey, and his son Dana (Ylanna), their children Jamie (Cam), Mindy (Tim), Tania (Will), Sarah (Dane), and Carson. He was also blessed to have 15 Great Grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers: Ferenz Szekely of Hungary, and Joe Gugyelka, and sister Helene Tarnasky, both of Medicine Hat. He was predeceased by his father Joe Gugyelka, mother Terez Bogdany, his beloved wife Margaret Gugyelka and great granddaughter Giselle Elizabeth Gugyelka. Dad immigrated to Canada in 1949, worked on his Father's farm in Tilley for 2 years then came to Lethbridge in 1951 to work in the coal mines and in the construction industry. He began a career with the CPR and retired after 33 years of service. He enjoyed working and was proud to be an employee of the railroad. He married Margaret Saly and they were together for 45 years before her passing in 1997. Dad loved to garden, his yard was filled with beautiful roses, fruit trees, and it was abundant with peppers, tomatoes, and grapes. His legacy will live on through his posterity. The Funeral Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, LETHBRIDGE NORTHSIDE CHAPEL, 2223-6A Ave. North on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at 1:00 pm. with Bishop Les Gugyelka conducting. Friends may meet the family prior to the service between 12:00 to 12:45. Interment in the Mountain View Cemetery, Lethbridge.
