Leah Willliams

LEAH HENRIE WILLIAMS, beloved wife of the late Mr. Leslie Walker Williams of Cardston, Alberta, passed peacefully away in her apartment on August 27, 2009, at Temple City Villa in Cardston, Alberta at the age of 84. Leah was born in Cardston, Alberta on November 5, 1924, as the seventh child of Ellis Coleman Henrie and Phebe Irene (Armstrong) Henrie. She attended the Old's Normal School and graduated with a teaching certificate in home economics. She married Leslie Walker Williams in the Cardston, Alberta Temple on November 14, 1951, and together they raised six children. In the end, her chosen career was as a homemaker dedicated to her children and family. Leah is survived by her sons Keith (Susan) of Taber, David (Nola) of Taber, her daughters Moana (Jody) of Calgary, Ladene (Knowlton) of Tonga South Pacific, Juanita (Milburn) of Hawaii, Peggy (Kevin) of Calgary, and Terry and Lynette Evanson of Littleton, Colorado, 54 grandkids, and 11 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers Daniel (Louise), Gaylon (Gilda), Ted, Jim, and her sisters Eula, and Shirley (Sam). Leah was predeceased by a grandson Tyler (son of David and Nola), a foster daughter Suzanne Toodlican, her parents Ellis and Phebe Henrie, brothers Merlin, Dale (Bud), Keith, and sisters Loy (Sis), and Ethel. Friends may meet the family on Tuesday, September 1, 2009, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at CHRISTENSEN SALMON FUNERAL HOME, 327-10 Street South, Lethbridge, or at the church prior to the funeral service on Wednesday from 2:00 to 2:45 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS, Taber Stake Center, 4822-50 Ave., Taber, Alberta. Interment to follow in the Taber cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to S.T.A.R.S., 1441 Aviation Park NE, Box 570, Calgary, AB T2E 9Z9, or the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 100-119 14 Street NW, Calgary, Alberta T2N 1Z6.
