He is survived by his three children: Len, Darlene and Brenda (Cal); two grandchildren James(Heather) and Hilary, as well as two great grandchildren Madea and Brigid. He is also survived by his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Amy and Sami Tashiro, sister-in-law Setsuko Okuma and numerous nieces and nephews. On August 5, 1918 Kiyoo was born on Annacis Island, B.C. At a young age he moved with his family to Japan in 1927. Upon completing his schooling, Kiyoo returned to Canada in 1937 and worked in the fishing and lumber industries. In 1942, he was relocated from B.C. to Alberta. In 1945, he married Fumiko Okuma and for the next 19 years they farmed and raised their family. In 1964, they started GeM Land Motors and after 17 years, they sold the business. In 1992, they retired to Lethbridge. At the time of his passing, Kiyoo had resided at Black Rock Terrace. Kiyoo was a man of many talents who enjoyed reading, doing Sudoku and Wonderword puzzles, cooking, gardening, photography, fishing and carpentry. He took great pride in his ability to cook without recipes, photograph his beautiful flowers and make things for his yard. He was happy to help out neighbors and friends by looking after their yards and homes while they were away. He also enjoyed sharing his kitchen creations with others. He will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his family. A private family service conducted by Rev. Izumi has taken place. The Chiba family respectfully request that NO KODEN be offered.
