KINGO SAKAMOTO, beloved husband of Shig of Lethbridge, passed away at home on Friday, May 15, 2009. Kingo is the loving father of Lyal (Dawn) Sakamoto of Lethbridge, and Bryan (Susan) Sakamoto of Medicine Hat. He is also survived by his grandchildren Robert Sakamoto, Shae-Lynn Sakamoto, Karyn (Kyle) Ormston, Jessica Sakamoto and Lisa Sakamoto; his great grandchildren Sierra and Peyton Ormston; his brothers and sisters Rose Kimura, Nash Sakamoto, Daisy Sameshima, Jimmy Sakamoto, Johnny Sakamoto, Clara (Matt) Kurio, Ken (Penny) Sakamoto and Mary (Bill) Dean; also many nieces and nephews. Kingo is predeceased by his parents, Unokichi and Shizue Sakamoto and one great granddaughter, Hailey Ormston. Kingo was born on September 30, 1921 in Balmoral Cannery on Skeena River, BC. He lived there until he was 6 years old and then moved to Port Essington, BC. Kingo attended school in Port Essington and lived there until 1936. After leaving Port Essington he moved to Claxton Cannery, BC. In March of 1942 Kingo moved to Slocan/New Denver, BC and shortly after that he moved to Montreal. In 1947 he moved to Lethbridge and married Shig on November 20, 1948. Kingo also had two sons, Lyal and Bryan. Kingo worked as a carpenter/estimator for Bird Construction for over 25 years. In 1971, he started Wesbridge Construction with his friend and co-worker Mel Murakami. He continued working at Wesbridge with his son Lyal. Kingo was a very hard working business owner and enjoyed his daily routine at the office, never missing a day. He looked forward to working with his fellow workers and business associates. Kingo enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren and will be greatly missed. Friends may meet with the family on Wednesday, May 20, 2009 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at CHRISTENSEN SALMON FUNERAL HOME, 327 - 10 Street South, Lethbridge. A Memorial Service will be held at THE BUDDHIST TEMPLE OF SOUTHERN ALBERTA, 470 - 40 Street South on Thursday, May 21, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. with Reverend Yasuo Izumi officiating. Cremation.
