KATHERINE PAXMAN OLER passed away peacefully in Raymond on November 24, 2007 surrounded by her loving family. Katherine was born in Lethbridge on October 2, 1922. She was the oldest child of Elene Salmon and Ezra Love Paxman. She spent a happy childhood on the family farm near Raymond. She attended all her years of school in Raymond. She worked at the Treasury Branch. In 1941, she met and fell in love with a handsome young man, Harold Oler. They were married on January 23, 1946, in the Alberta Temple. They made many lifelong friends and enjoyed a busy social life in Raymond, Duchess, Rosemary and Brooks before settling in Calgary in 1959 to continue to raise their 7 children. In 1974, they returned to their roots in Raymond. Katherine enjoyed selling Avon for many, many years as well as being involved in DUP. She was a very active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She filled many callings and performed much compassionate service. She will be dearly missed by her children, Jim (Patti) of Sandy, Utah, Duane (Joyce) of Raymond, Roy (Lovina) of DeWinton, LaVaun (Garth) Balls of Calgary, Linda (Lonny) Johnson of DeWinton, Sheila (Byron) Wilde of Welling and Randy (Cindy) of Lethbridge. Also 39 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. Katherine was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, her parents and her brother, Grant. She is survived by her brothers, Eldon (Rose), Doral (Marge), Ross (Amy) and John (Carol) and her special sister Rhea (Rex) Sommerfeldt and numerous neices and nehews. Funeral services will be held at the Knight Street Chapel in Raymond at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 27 with Bishop Richard Wilde officiating. Friends may meet with the family from 11:45 a.m. - 12:45 p.m. prior to the service. Interment in the Temple Hill Cemetery.
