KARI LEANN KURTZ, of Orton, Alberta, beloved wife of Paul Kurtz, passed away at home, surrounded by her family, on Monday, November 26, 2007 at the age of 37 years. Kari was born in Lethbridge, Alberta on March 16, 1970, the first child of Sharon and Monty Anderson, of Claresholm. She is survived by her loving husband of 17 years, Paul Kurtz. In those 17 years they were blessed with four beautiful daughters, Kami, Kyra, Kodi and Keyli. Kari was the oldest of the four Anderson children; she is survived by her three brothers, Darren (Niki) of Dayton, Nevada, Shawn (Annie Jo) and Scott (Kari Lynn) of Lethbridge. She is also survived by her mother and father-in-law, Madeleine and Blair Kurtz of Fort Macleod, brothers-in-law Robert (Kristin) Kurtz of Cincinnati, Michael (Sheila) Kurtz of Barnwell, sisters-in-law, Leanne (Stewart) Gill of Victoria, BC and Joylee (James) Phinney of Calgary. Kari was a loving mother, wife, daughter, sister and friend, who enjoyed life to the fullest even when her health made it difficult for her to do so. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she happily served in many callings including primary and Relief Society. Kari loved spending time with her four daughters and enjoyed watching them perform clogging, playing sports, playing piano, skating and other activities. She also held the position of Treasurer on the local skating association. Kari graduated from Ricks College, in Rexburg, Idaho, with an Associates Degree in Interior Design. She loved all things to do with decorating, which was apparent in her beautiful home. She made hand painted crafts and Christmas decorations that she sold at local craft fairs and gave as gifts to friends and family. Kari loved camping and spending time outdoors with her family and pets, she was also an avid scrap booker. Friends may meet the family on Friday evening, November 30, 2007 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the LDS Fort Macleod Chapel, or prior to the service at the church on Saturday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS, Fort Macleod Chapel, 643-20 Street, Fort Macleod, with Bishop Duane Foote officiating. Interment to follow in the Orton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kari's Angels, a special trust fund established by the Fort Macleod Skating Club for Kari's four daughters. The fund will be used for their education, sports activities, music, dance and any other fine arts they would want to participate in.
