IRENE ELEANOR RUSHFELDT MILLER, beloved wife of Derald E. Miller, passed away peacefully at the Raymond Health Centre on Saturday, March 26, 2011 with family at her side. Irene is survived by her children: Janice (Jack) Stone, Robert (Margo) Miller, Cameron (Jana) Miller, Sharon (Michael) Ryan and Kevin Miller, as well as 27 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren. Irene is also survived by her sister Marjorie Kuziw and brother-in-law Donald G. Walker. She is predeceased by her brother, Elmer Rushfeldt, and sisters Muriel Holthe and Shirley Walker. Irene was born September 25, 1923 in Youngstown, Alberta, the third in a farm family of 5 children. When she was 7 years old her family left the Youngstown district and settled in the Heinsburg area north-east of Edmonton. Irene trained as a registered nurse at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton where she graduated in 1947. Having a strong desire to have a rural nursing experience, she came to the town of Raymond, where she worked for many years in the Raymond Hospital. She was a beautiful, competent nurse and was much beloved by her patients and colleagues. In 1948 Irene met and married the love of her life, Derald Eugene Miller. They made their home in Raymond where they worked together to raise their growing family. Irene's life was devoted to her church, family and community. She joyfully participated in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints extending her love and service to all. She and Derald served in the Cardston Alberta Temple for more than 23 years. She was also a class instructor and an administrator in the Primary, Mutual and Relief Society. Irene was an outstanding homemaker, a lover of learning, and an enthusiastic contributor to the life of her community. She dearly loved her family and was happiest when she was with them. Her zest for life and her outstanding example of love, service and caring blessed everyone within her circle of influence. To know her was to love her. We will all miss her. Her family would like to thank the staff of the Good Samaritan Society - Prairie Ridge and to the staff of the Raymond Health Centre for the special care and attention given throughout Irene's illness. Friends may meet the family prior to the funeral service on Friday, April 1 from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the church.
