
"Dad has gone fishing and is still trying to land the big one" HIDEO HECTOR HINATSU, beloved husband of Fujiye June, passed away, surrounded by family on May 5, 2011. He is the loving father of Gerald (Nurcan), Karen (Noel) Thomas, Bonnie (John) Caldwell and the doting grandfather to Courtney (Lance) Wehlage, Halley Thomas, Harley, Molly, Skylar and Georgia Caldwell, Ella Hinatsu and would have been a great grandfather in August. He is also survived by one sister Kim (Frank) Ohno and predeceased by his parents, brothers Shig and Roy Hinatsu and sisters Naka Kitagawa, Haru Fujino and Sue Tatebe. Hector was born on April 30, 1923 in Mission, BC and was interned to Lethbridge in 1942. He married June in 1951 and they celebrated 60 years together. He worked for Scott National for 36 years first driving truck and then worked his way up into the Sales and Administration section. Hector's joy came from spending time with his family and dog, Cookie. He enjoyed going for coffee with the gang, bowling and fishing. Dad was a kind and generous person who always made sure everyone who did anything for him, was thanked. He had a great sense of humour and enjoyed the simple things in life. Thank-you to the doctors and nurses who took care of him and to the staff at St. Michael's who were extremely caring and comforting to him and the family. Dad will be remembered and missed by all. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at the BUDDHIST TEMPLE of SOUTHERN ALBERTA with Rev. Izumi officiating. Cremation to follow.
