Helen Marchant

Helen Marchant October 28, 1926 - September 18, 2017

Helen Marchant passed away peacefully on September 18, 2017. Born in Kenora, Ontario to William and Edith Paulson(Frost), she later moved to Calgary, Alberta.

Married to Gordon Marchant, Helen was a loving mother to her predeceased son, Lawrence (children Jason and Jesse Marchant) of Calgary, and her surviving son Richard (children Tammy Loose and Gordy Marchant) of Lethbridge and Calgary. She is predeceased by her sister Mae Harris (survived by Allen Harris) of Kenora, Ontario, and survived by her brother Ted and sister-in-law Audrey Paulson of Port Dover, Ontario. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Helen worked for many years at Opportunity 45 and Pan Am. She was a long-time member of the St. Stephen's Anglican Church and the Royal Canadian Legion (Branch #102) in Calgary. She had a deep appreciation of the British monarchy, the Canadian RCMP musical rides and her family's Irish and Norwegian heritage. She loved listening to bagpipe music, decorating at Christmas holidays and spending time with family and friends. Later in life, she moved to Lethbridge, Alberta along with her son Richard in order to enjoy the support that Richard and Tammy's husband, Derek Loose and his family could give her. In life, she was known for her fierce devotion to family and for her ability to overcome the many of life's hardships that she had to endure. This she did with great resiliency and passion! In turn, she will be missed by all who were lucky enough to had known her.

At Helen's request, a "Celebration of Life" will be held in Lethbridge on Friday, September 29, at 2pm, at Christensen Salmon Generations Funeral Home, 703 13 Street N. Friends are cordially invited to meet with the family following the service. The family would like to thank the staff at Fairmont Extendicare for the tender care and support given to Helen in her time of need.
