He is also survived by his brothers: Takashi and Makoto and their families and other relatives in Japan, and his in-laws in Toronto and Finland. Hisashi is predeceased by his parents, Dr. and Mrs. Kazuo Furuiye. He was born in Kumamoto, Japan on June 10, 1926. Hisashi (Hashi) graduated from Kumamoto National Medical School in 1954 and became an Obstetrician and Gynecologist on June 2, 1958 and received DSc of Medicine in 1959. Hashi retired in 2000 and later practiced part time in Misericordia Hospital, MB and in Victoria, BC. His hobbies were many: black belt in judo at the University of Kumamoto, and Kendo in Winnipeg. Traveling brought great enjoyment to him in many continents, especially his birth country of Japan. He will be greatly missed by all of us.
