Hans von Chorus

HANS WILHELM VON CHORUS passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, June 13, 2007 at Lethbridge Regional Hospital at the age of 70 years. Hans was born in Schcopau, Germany, on February 23, 1937. He immigrated to Canada with his parents and four siblings in 1952. He met his future bride Patricia Layton and in February of 1958 they were married. Hans worked for 38 years at the Lethbridge Research Station where he worked as a soil technician and later as a field operations foreman, retiring in 1993. Hans' many passions included golfing, curling, gardening, hiking and, most of all, spending many hours with his family. He was a loving father and an outstanding grandfather who was soon to be a great grandfather. Hans is survived by his wife of 48 years, Patricia; his children: Karen (Rob) Thom, Douglas (Angela) von Chorus, and Denise Kenney; his eleven grandchildren of whom he was immensely proud, Megan (Bradshaw) McClung; Matthew and Micheala Thom; Eric, Hannah, and Nikolaus von Chorus; and Cassie, Connor, Tanner, Emily, and Roxanne Kenney; and his siblings Gisela, Klaus, Dieter, and Helga. He will be dearly missed by all his family and friends. Hans was predeceased by his parents Roland and Annemarie and infant daughter Roxanne. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2007 at 2:30 p.m. at THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS, Northside Chapel 2223-6A. Ave. N, Lethbridge, with Bishop Robert Bender officiating. Friends may meet the family prior to the service from 1:30 to 2:15 p.m. Interment to follow in the Mountain View Cemetery.
