GWENDOLINE LILLIAN WILLIAMS, beloved wife of the late Elwyn (Bush) Williams, passed away after a brief illness on Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at the Chinook Regional Hospital at the age of 89 years. Gwen was born on May 30, 1920 in Cardston. She lived most of her life in Lethbridge. On October 13, 1940, she married Elwyn (Bush) Williams. During the war years, she raised two children: Robert (Bob), and Arlene. She supported Bush through his career as a truck driver and then later as the owner of Owen Distributing. In the mid 1950's, the family expanded with the birth of Janice and Dianne. She enjoyed golfing, but most of all loved to spend winters in Hawaii before Bush became ill. Gwen enjoyed the last few years living at Martha's House, where she made many friends. She was also known as 'Grandma' to many of her grandchildren's friends and rarely missed a hockey or baseball game. Gwen is predeceased by her parents, Stanley and Lillian Appleton, a brother Ernest in WWII, and her husband Bush in 1992. She is survived by her son Robert [Jodi, Cindy, Chris, Bernie, Michelle] of Quesnelle; her daughters Arlene (Jim) McKay [Darin (Shirley), Kathie, Judy (Dale)]; Janice (Larry) McNeill [Rob (Meredith), Brad, Courtney]; and Dianne (Dave) Pearce [Jamie, Kristen (Keenan), Ryan]; 12 great grandchildren and a sister Audrey Giovinazzo. Cremation. At Gwen's request, a private family graveside service will be held. Memorial tributes for Gwen may be made to the "Gwendoline Lillian Williams Caring Hearts Fund" for Palliative Care, c/o Chinook Regional Hospital Foundation, 960-19 Street South, Lethbridge, AB T1J 1W5.
