Grace Nelson

GRACE KATHERINE (MUELLER) NELSON, beloved wife of the late Fred L. Nelson, formerly of Warner, passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2011, at the Chinook Regional Hospital, in Lethbridge, at the age of 94. Grace is the loving mother to Sandra Nelson, of Stirling, and Terry Nelson, of Warner. Grace will be dearly missed by her daughter, Sandra, and her family: Darren (Mona) Peterson, Carol (Scott) Tidmarsh, Lana (Ryan) Johnson, Marla (Richard) Goode; and her son, Terry (Karen) and their family: Troy (Sheri) Nelson, Brandi (Neil) Bachmeier, and Cori (Dusty) Fyke. Grace was also blessed with 23 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren. Grace is also survived by her siblings: Irene (Dave) Walker, Joyce Andreachuk, George (Selma) Mueller, and Ruth (Laurie) Belsher, and sisters-in-law Violette Mueller and Dorothy Mueller. Grace was born and raised on the family farm north of Warner of Swiss heritage parents, Michael and Rosa (Zurschmiede) Mueller. School days began riding horseback to Kessler School, high school in Warner, and a diploma from Olds College. Grace and Fred were married March 27, 1940 and worked side by side farming and ranching in the Warner area. Grace was an avid sportsman, excelling in track and field, curling, horsemanship, and in her Arizona winters, shuffleboard. She and Fred competed in the Golden Age Horse Show in Claresholm for 20 years, with 2000 being their last show. They rode the prairies together on many week-long, organized trail rides. Grandma was truly the matriarch of our family and we will miss her dearly, especially the tender moments when she shared her many talents and abilities. Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her brothers: Oscar, Lloyd, Ken, Ray, and Rome; her Mueller sisters-in-law: Elda, Kay, Doris, Leona, and Vivian; and her brother-in-law, Andy Andreachuk. Friends may meet the family on Friday, March 11, 2011 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at CHRISTENSEN SALMON GENERATIONS FUNERAL HOME, 703-13 Street North, Lethbridge, or prior to the funeral service at the church on Saturday from 12:00 to 12:45 p.m. A Graveside Service will be held at the Warner Memorial Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2011. The Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, STIRLING CHAPEL, Stirling, Alberta.
