GERHARD JOSEPH JOHANNES BEYER (1924-2008) GERHARD BEYER of Lethbridge passed away peacefully at the Coaldale Health Centre on Sunday, April 20, 2008, at the age of 84. Gerhard was born to a farm family in Zeinecke, Pommern (Germany), on February 10, 1924, the youngest of 13 children. He survived World War II and a prisoner of war camp in Lithuania before emigrating to Lethbridge in 1952 where he married his fiancAC.e, Ursula. Although he earned his living as a house painter, his real love from an early age was art. Gerhard found great enjoyment in music. During his early years in Lethbridge, he played violin with the Lethbridge Symphony Orchestra, while later, he led worship in church, hospitals, seniors' homes, and the jail. His accomplishments were considerable, but he will be treasured above all for being a gentle, loving husband, father, and friend. He is survived by his children, Ralph Beyer of Lethbridge, Ron (Dona-Ruth) Beyer and their children Joshua and Rachel of Sherwood Park, Gordon (Susan) Beyer and their children Maxine and Tristan of Stony Plain, Dorothy Beyer and her son Nicholas of Edmonton, and sister Charlotte (Hans) Tiegs of Winnipeg. Gerhard was predeceased by his beloved wife, Ursula.
