Gay Ericksen

ERICKSEN December 5, 1934 - January 6, 2011 GAY LAREE ERICKSEN peacefully passed away in the Calgary Foothills Hospital on January 6, 2011 at the age of 76 years. Gay, the daughter of Leonard and Fern (Nelson) Hirsche, was born on December 5, 1934. She attended school in Wrentham, where she grew up helping run the family farm. She married her beloved husband, Lorin Ericksen in 1954, and their son Marty was born in 1966. Gay went on to attend Garbutt Business School, after which she worked at Central Mortgage and Housing. She and Lorin were successful business owners and operated Ericksen's Jewellery for over 40 years. After Gay retired she continued to keep busy with many interests including keep fit, dancing, traveling and spending time with family and friends. Gay is survived by her son Dr. Marty Ericksen of Salt Lake City Utah and four siblings: LaDene Nelson of Wrentham, Marjorie Manderville of Lethbridge, Myron Hirsche of Lethbridge and Lynn Hirsche of Coaldale. She was predeceased by her husband Lorin, parents Leonard and Fern, and brother Dewaine. From a young age Gay was not expected to live past her childhood. She was a living miracle who filled those in her life with love and laughter. Gay was adored by all and will be greatly missed by all those whose lives she touched. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints, LETHBRIDGE STAKE CENTER, 2410-28 Street South. Everyone is invited to meet the family Friday, January 14 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at GENERATIONS FUNERAL HOME, 703-13 Street North Lethbridge, or prior to the service on Saturday, January 15 from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. at the church. Interment to follow in the Mountain View Cemetery, Lethbridge.
