
MATILDA FREDA PHILLIPS FLETCHER, beloved wife of Nyal Alston Fletcher of Magrath, passed away at the Garden Vista Place on Friday, May 1, 2009 at the age of 94 years. She was born on December 18, 1914 in Lehi, Utah to Matilda Ruth Gurney and Levi Augustus Phillips. Her family consists of four children: Glenn (Charlotte) Fletcher of Magrath, Allen (Elaine) Fletcher of Stirling, Nyalene (Bruce) Nieforth of Monroe, Washington, and Janet (Vernon) Jubber of Lethbridge, 24 grandchildren, and 60 great grandchildren. She completed her schooling in Lehi, Utah, and then served an LDS mission in Louisville, Kentucky. She married her sweetheart in the Salt Lake Temple April 12, 1939 and came to Canada to live. She served in many church positions including temple worker and went on two missions with her husband. She played the violin, piano and organ. Many years were spent entertaining others with her husband playing the violin and her on the piano. They travelled together to many places including the Holy Land. She enjoyed music, dancing, sewing, and crocheting beautiful afghans. She was known for her smile and empathy for others. She always said the greatest joy in her life was her husband and family. She loved family events and did not want to miss anything. She truly loved her family and they loved her. Married happily for 70 years, she and her husband were a wonderful example to all they met. Friends may meet the family prior to the service on Thursday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Funeral Services will be held at THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS, Magrath Stake Centre, Magrath, AB, on Thursday, May 7, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with Bro. Wade Alston conducting. Interment to follow in the Magrath Cemetery.
