Fern Jensen

July 6, 1917-December 2, 2010 Fern Lucille (Hodgson) Jensen passed away peacefully at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Tuesday, December 2, 2010 and has gone to join those who have gone before. Fern was the beloved wife of the late Glen Jensen for over 70 years. Fern was born in Taber, daughter of Tom and Nora Hodgson. She was predeceased by her husband Glen, her son, Brie and two sisters and a brother. She is survived by her children Glenda Nixon, Jeannine McCollum(Sam), Sheila Wright(Ron), Tom Jensen(Sharon) and a daughter-in-law Ladene Jensen. Also left to cherish her memory are 23 grandchildren and 45 great grandchildren and a multitude of relatives, friends and acquaintances. She will be remembered for her wonderful memory, kindness, service to family and others love of travelling and learning. She was a faithful member of the LDS church and served diligently in many callings during her life. She was also a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and other women's organizations in earlier years. Fern went from being a city girl to a farm wife and worker, back to the city life. Family celebrations and special happenings were always important to Fern and she tried to attend all of them. She loved good conversations, discussions, kept up on what was happening locally and worldwide and knew the standings of almost all sports teams. Fern leaves behind for her family and friends a wealth of wonderful memories. She will be missed but we are so thankful she is at peace. Fern always voiced her appreciation to all those who looked after her in her later years-Home Care, doctors, Columbia Assisted Living, Chinook Regional Hospital and family. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at 11:00 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, MOUNTAIN HEIGHTS CHAPEL, 175 Rocky Mountain Blvd. W., Lethbridge, with Bishop Gary Seebeck officiating. Friends may meet the family on Tuesday evening, December 7 from 7:00 to 8:00 pm at CHRISTENSEN SALMON GENERATIONS FUNERAL HOME, 703-13 Street North, Lethbridge, or prior to the service on Wednesday from 10:00 to 10:45 at the church. Interment in the Barnwell Cemetery, Barnwell, Alberta.
