ELSIE MAE HADDOW, beloved wife of the late William Buckler Haddow, passed away at St. Michael's Health Care Centre, Lethbridge, on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at the age of 88 years. She was the loving mother of: Sharon Leigh (1947-1949), Robert Warren (Cyril Hume) of Saanichton, BC, Sandra Lynne (Kevin) Ferguson of Lethbridge, and William Noel of Surrey, BC. She is also survived by granddaughters: Devon and Amelia Ferguson, Katrina (Michael) Wilson and their children Riley, Brady and Avery Marie. Also left to mourn are her brother Carl (Christina) Selin and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews across Canada, U.S.A, Sweden and Britain. Elsie was predeceased by her father Einar (1929), daughter Sharon (1949), mother Gulli (1989), husband Bill (1996) and sister Delores (2011). She was born in Wilhelmina, Sweden on December 16, 1923 to Einar and Gulli Johanson. Elsie and her parents emigrated to Hay Lakes, Alberta, Canada in 1927. After her father's death in 1929, Gulli met and married Oscar Selin in 1931. Elsie was then blessed with a brother and sister, Carl and Delores. In 1939, Elsie, her mom and sister, moved to Victoria, BC where she met and married Bill Haddow in 1943. Together, they had 4 children: Sharon (deceased), Warren, Sandra and Bill. She was a wonderful wife and mother, a fabulous cook and seamstress, loved to garden, read, do crosswords, watch soaps, game shows and sports and her passion was 10-pin bowling, which she played until 2006. She was famous for her jello popsicles, birthday cakes and spaghetti sauce!! She loved to entertain and her door was always open. We shared wonderful family vacations and after Dad's retirement, they enjoyed many special trips together. Elsie was a woman who always put others before herself. She taught us about love, kindness, honesty and dignity through her quiet example. She inspired, supported and cheered us on through all our endeavours. She will be forever missed and always loved! Friends may meet with the family on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. at CHRISTENSEN SALMON GENERATIONS FUNERAL HOME, 703-13 Street North, Lethbridge.
