Elmer Garner

ELMER KAY GARNER passed away peacefully on Friday, January 6, 2012 at the age of 86 years. Beloved husband to Mabel Ann (Young), survived by daughters Gerrie (Pat) Layton, Kathy (Randy) Dodd and grandchildren Kristine (Scott) Barnouw, Michael (Heather) Layton, Kevin (Jessica) Dodd and Jeff Dodd (Stephanie Moore). Remembered by great grandchildren, Graham, Connor, Allison and Adam. Elmer was born in Cardston, Alberta on November 20, 1925. Raised on the Garner homestead in Hill Spring, Alberta and later moving to Cardston where he married Mabel Young on June 5, 1947. Together they raised daughters Gerrie and Kathy. In 1968 Elmer and Mabel moved to Calgary where he worked for J I Case for 25 years. Throughout Elmer's career he was a devoted Service Representative for J I Case supporting Western Canada. Elmer and Mabel retired in Lethbridge in 1988. In Elmer's spare time he enjoyed fishing, woodworking and watching rodeo. RVing and spending time at the cabin in Montana with family and friends were some of the things he loved. Elmer's devotion to life will be greatly missed. A celebration of Elmer's Life will be held at CHRISTENSEN SALMON GENERATIONS FUNERAL HOME, 703-13th Street North, Lethbridge on Thursday, January 12, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. Following the celebration there will be luncheon at the Lethbridge Golf and Country Club. The family wishes to express gratitude to the staff at the Chinook Regional Hospital for their compassionate care and consideration given to Elmer and his family.
