EDWARD GRANT FINNEN, beloved husband of Linda, passed away suddenly on Monday, September 13, 2010 at the age of 71 years. He is also survived by his daughter Lynn Matthews, son Dan and grandson (& namesake) Grant Matthews, all of Lethbridge. Grant is predeceased by his mother and father and his brother Keith. Grant was born in Edmonton on May 8, 1939 to Egbert and Blanche (Borden) Finnen. He lived during WWII at Sterco in the Coal Valley Southwest of Edson where his dad was an engineer in the coal mines. They lived for a short time in Edson before moving to Valhalla Center and Hythe, AB. Grant worked some for his Uncle Lee Borden in the bush camps before going to work on seismic rigs. In 1961, he met Linda Conlon and they were married July 21, 1962. Their home was blessed with Lynn and Dan and later his great joy grandson Grant. Grant worked for Alberta Pacific Grain for 9 years. In 1973 he started working for Proctor & Gamble in the new pulp mill in south Grande Prairie. He retired from the mill in 1999 after 26 years of service. Grant was an avid hunter and trout fisherman. Every fall he loved to go to the forest south of Grande Prairie moose hunting. He never worried if he shot a moose or not, but loved the smell and sight of the leaves in the fall. Grant's favourite spot to fish and relax was Azuetta Lake in the Pine Pass, and later Payne and Police Lakes near Waterton Park. He loved the mountains and spent many holidays in Jasper. He loved the old west and had every Louis L'Amour book ever written and every western movie made with John Wayne. Grant was a large man with a large heart - very generous with his time and money. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS, Lethbridge Stake Centre, 2410-28 Street South, Lethbridge.
