Edina Dowler

ELVINA "EDINA" DOWLER (BYE) beloved wife of the late Robert J. Dowler, passed away peacefully in her sleep December 6, 2009 in her home at the Garden View Lodge in Lethbridge at the age of 92 years. Edina was one of four children born on June 4, 1917 to Walter and Ada Bye in Killashee, Co. Longford, Ireland. She leaves to mourn her children: Noel (Leslie) of Edmonton and their children Chris (Gail) and Kevin (Jackie) ; Georgie (Elaine) of Stony Plain and their children Terry (Nicole) and Kim Kostiak (Gary) ; John (Ursula) of Mornville ; Philip (Glynis) of St. Albert and their children Tannia Franke (Greg) and Blaine ; Joy Saruwatari (Gordon) of Raymond and their children Tak (Meghan), Kurt (Natasha) and Mark ; Eric (Lucy) of Sherwood Park and their children Elysha Whissell (Jarred), Robert (Natashia), Rebecca Cowan (Kevin) and Aaron ; Ann Sugimoto (Doug) of Raymond and their children Mandee, Colten (Koralie), Charlotte, Katie, Sami, and Tim. She also leaves behind 18 great grandchildren Allie and Emerson Dowler; Noel Jr., Adam and Griffin Dowler; Coral and Portia Franke; Brooke and Sydney Dowler; Jarrett and Kayleigh Kostiak; Hailey and Brenna Saruwatari; Tyler and Paige Saruwatari; Olivia and Ryerson Whissell and Stella Dowler. Edina also leaves behind her loving sister Betty Hill of Summerland, BC and sister-in-law Margo Bye of Co Meath, Ireland and numerous nieces and nephews. Edina loved traveling the world. Her favorite place to visit was back home to Ireland. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, reading, baking, watching Horse Races and golf on the "Telly." What she loved most in this world, was spending time with friends, family and all of her grandchildren "the wee-ones." Edina was a fun-loving, caring, and compassionate woman whose humor brought joy to everyone who had the opportunity to meet her. She will be greatly missed by all but her laughter will live on in everyone who knew her. Edina was predeceased by her parents Walter and Ada Bye, her brothers Walter and George and sister-in-law Georgina "Totchie" and brother-in-law Joe Hill. The family of Edina Dowler would like to thank all the staff and her dear friends at the Garden View Lodge in Lethbridge for their love and friendship. Family and friends are welcome to attend a celebration of Edina's life at 3:00 p.m. on December 11, 2009 at CHRISTENSEN SALMON FUNERAL HOME, 327-10 Street South, Lethbridge.
