Dora Bennett

DORA B SHIELDS BENNETT passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Tuesday, November 29, 2011. She is survived by her dear eternal companion of 66 years, Harold E. Bennett, 5 children; Rae Ann (Kim) Shipley, Blair (Jane) Bennett, Barbara (Steve) Coombs, Doug (Lorrie) Bennett and Mark (Susan) Bennett, 28 grandchildren and 63 great grandchildren. She was born in Lethbridge, Alberta on February 5, 1922 to Wilford and Bertha Shields. She was predeceased by her parents and four brothers; Harold, Stewart, Leonard and Reed. Dora was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings. She loved serving in Young Women's and as an Assistant Matron and Matron of the Cardston, Alberta Temple. Dora also served a Family History Mission with her husband in Salt Lake City Utah. She enjoyed being a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. Dora's greatest joy was her husband, her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. The Funeral Service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Lethbridge Alberta Stake Centre, 2410 - 28 Street South. Friends may meet with the family prior to the service at the church from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Interment to follow in the Temple Hill Cemetery, Raymond.
