DONALD ROY SIMPSON February 15, 1936 - August 12, 2008 A gentle soul is now at peace. Don passed away suddenly at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Tuesday, August 12, 2008 following a stroke: he was 72 years of age. He is survived by his wife Carol and his children: Janette (Maynard) Fast of Lethbridge and Russell (Amber Wheatley) of Burnaby, BC, and his precious grandchildren: Michael and Erik Fast and Keira and Kian Simpson. Don's sister Kathleen (Tony) Roth of Lethbridge and brother Tom (Clare) Simpson of Comox, BC also mourn his death. Don was born in Lethbridge at the Galt Hospital and was raised in Bow Island until he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1953. When he left the Air Force in 1956 he went to work with the Alberta Provincial Government with the Department of Agriculture and then with the Municipal Affairs, Assessment Branch until his retirement in 1993. Don also did work for the Disaster Services Recovery Program. Loved ones who predeceased him were his parents; Jack and Hazel Simpson, his mother and father-in-law; Lois and Bill Ogden; brother-in-law Larry Ogden as well as his youngest son Paul. Don was involved for many years with golfing at Land-O-Lakes; in the winter months he curled with the Lethbridge Senior Curling and enjoyed the many friendships he made. He will be missed by all of us. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, August 15, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at GENERATIONS FUNERAL HOME, 703-13 Street North, Lethbridge, with Rev. Cathy Coates officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Lethbridge, 402-740-4 Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB T1J 0N9.
