Dewenna Billingsley

Our dear mother DEWENNA JEAN (WINTERS) BILLINGSLEY, beloved wife of the late DeVere K. Billingsley, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family, on Saturday, February 17, 2007 in Lethbridge at the age of 81 years. Dewenna is survived by her children: Darlyne (Paul) Davies, Cassy Fandrick, Les (Mary Jane) Billingsley, Shirley Riley, Bernie Billingsley, and Sherri (Mason Brown) Bridgewater. Her grandchildren: Miles (Misty) Heck, Gerry (Crystal) Heck, Tracey (Kevin) Schiebelbein, Michelle (Rob) Gaetz, Wes Capton, Christopher Billingsley, Stacey Billingsley, Justin (Lisa) Bridgewater, Jeremy Bridgewater, Jordan (Micha) Bridgewater as well as thirteen great grandchildren. Her sisters-in-law: Roberta (Byron) Smith, Laura (Ed) Stegan, and Lydia Winters, numerous nieces and nephews, as well as her very dear and special friend Doris Fletcher. Mom was born on June 1, 1925 in Raymond, AB and received her education in Coaldale, Glenwood and Lethbridge. Mom and Dad were married May 1, 1948 in Cardston, AB. They resided in Glenwood, AB until 1963 when the family moved to Calgary, AB. In 1966 the family moved to Lethbridge, AB where Mom resided until her passing. Mom served in many callings in her church, as a teacher, President of the Primary and Relief Society and also served on the Stake Relief Society board. Mom's life was focused on the Gospel and in 1981 Dad and Mom served on a mission in Mackenzie, BC, where they made many wonderful friends. Mom was an excellent homemaker, her home was always spotless. She made the best bread and homemade jams, her gardens were always huge and her yard always meticulous with lots of flowers. Anything Mom did, she did it with a zeal that few could keep up with. Her keen sense of humor kept everyone on their toes. One never knew what she might come up with next. Mom was always a very happy person who could always put a smile on your face. Mom was always busy, but never too busy for family or friends, she had a heart of "Gold". She will truly be missed by all that knew her. Dewenna was predeceased by her husband DeVere, her son Kelly Keith, her parents Les and Ruby Winters, her brothers Les Odell, Del and Bill and her sisters Rachael, Velma and Lucille. A special thanks to all the staff at Good Samaritans who gave so many hours of loving care to our "Mom" over the years. Friends may meet the family from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 23 at GENERATIONS FUNERAL HOME, 703-13 Street North, Lethbridge, or prior to the service at the church on Saturday from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS, 2223-6 A. Avenue North, Lethbridge, with Bishop Robert Bender officiating. Interment to follow in the Archmount Cemetery, Lethbridge.
