
DAVID OWEN RUSSELL, beloved husband of Patricia Russell of Milk River, passed away on Thursday, December 6, 2007 at the Milk River Hospital at the age of 77 years, 3 days short of his 78th birthday. He is the loving father of: Terry (Kathy) Russell of Milk River, Scott (Sheina) Russell of Milk River, Burke (Kathy) Russell of Milk River, and Wade Russell of Lethbridge. David is survived by 12 grandchildren: Terra (Kevin), Kassy (Aaron), Tyler, Jessica (Tyler), Brittany, Jamie, Matthew, Adam, Braeden, Kevin, Victoria, and Breann; 3 great grandchildren: Seth, Griffin, and Callie. He is also survived by 2 sisters: Barbara Elliott of Milk River, and Mickey (Ken) Curle of Nanton; one sister-in-law Jo Rogan of Edmonton, as well as by many nieces, nephews and cousins. David was predeceased by his mother, Sarah Watts, his father, David Russell Sr., a brother, Barry and a grandson, Rory. He was born in Taber on December 9, 1929 and was the son of David and Sarah Russell. He received his schooling in Diamond City and Taber. On July 28, 1951 he married Patricia Peterson. After school, he started work at the Taber sugar factory and then began a long career with Beaver Lumber. Eventually, he was able to buy into his own business - M & R Lumber, which later became a Home Hardware Building Supplies. In 1992 he retired. Throughout his life, David was very active in many sports, but he especially excelled at and loved curling. He made many good friends while "bonspieling". Dave also was a past member of the Milk River Volunteer Firemen and the Elks Club. Anywhere there was a "coffee row" and a good story to tell he could be found. "Pa" will be greatly missed by all his children and grandkids. Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family from 9:30 to 10:40 a.m. at the Agora Room in the Milk River Civic Centre. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, December 10, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the MILK RIVER CIVIC CENTRE, 321-3 Avenue N.E., Milk River, with Bishop Rob Berezay officiating. Interment to follow in the Milk River Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Milk River Ambulance, Box 270, Milk River, AB T0K 1M0; or to the Riverside Golf Society, Box 298, Milk River, AB T0K 1M0.
