Cyril Jones

CYRIL "CY" JONES born in Raymond, Alberta on May 4, 1913, passed away peacefully surrounded by his beloved family on Tuesday, January 16, 2007 at the age of 93 years in Lethbridge, Alberta. Cy is survived by his loving wife Vera and four children: Dennis (Connie) Jones of Lethbridge, Marilyn (Don) Bannink of Cranbrook, BC, Arlene (Richard) Still of Stirling, and Jaci (Bud) Helmer of Lethbridge. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Cy is predeceased by his parents, Isaac and Martha Jones, his first wife Elizabeth, brother Bill, and sisters: Hattie, Evaline, Lillian and Amy. He worked for the C.P.R. (Stockyards Division) in Lethbridge for 34 years and 10 years in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. At the time of his retirement Cy and Vera moved to Riondel, BC, where he proceeded to completely remodel their dream home. They then moved on to Cranbrook, BC and resided there for 14 years, then moving back to his roots in Lethbridge. Cy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and great, great grandfather. He was a quiet, gentle and caring man who never had a bad word to say about anyone. Cy loved fishing, bird watching, gardening and renovating. In later years he enjoyed building bird houses and placing them in various areas around Cranbrook; he monitored the nests like they were family. Cy and Vera traveled extensively throughout Canada and the U.S.A. The family would like to thank the caring staff of the ICU at the Regional Hospital - a big thanks to Dr. Eric Wilde for his patience and understanding. A special thank-you to Stephanie, Dad's nurse who was truly our angel! Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS, Lethbridge Stake Centre, 2410-28 Street South, Lethbridge. Cremation to follow. Friends may meet the family prior to the service at the church on Saturday from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 317-10 Street South, Lethbridge, AB T1J 2M7, or to the CNIB, 410 Stafford Drive South, Lethbridge, AB T1J 2L2.
