
Cliff Miyashiro of Welling passed away on Friday, October 13, 2017 at the age of 60 years.
He was predeceased of by his father Jim in 1982, and sister Crystal Klassen in 2006.
Cliff is survived by his wife Leanna, children Marshall (Carlie), Tansley, and Quinn; mother Dorothy; brothers Keith (Penny), Cleve, Cheryl (Greg) Poile, as well as numerous nieces & nephews; parents-in-law Ed & Jennie Jones; sister-in-law Laurie (Mark) Heinricks.
Cliff grew up in Hartyville, Lethbridge and Calgary. He loved playing hockey and baseball.
At 16, he moved to Edmonton, and by 18 he was working at the YMCA when a trainer discovered him and brought him to the racetrack. So began a 30 year career that took him all over North America.
In 1993, he returned to Canada after breaking his femur in Ohio. It was then he met Leanna. In 1994, while they were both working at Calgary racetracks, they started their life together. In 1996 they welcomed their first child, Marshall. Tansley followed in 1998, and Quinn arrived in 2003.
Cliff retired from racing in 2003 after a very successful career. He continued working as an insulator, which he had been doing part time since 1999. Leanna and Cliff moved their family to Welling in 2003, where he enjoyed their community, acreage, and he had a great love for animals.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – WELLING CHAPEL (Hwy #5, Welling, AB)
