CLARENCE A. REMPEL, beloved husband of Ilene, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, May 28, 2009. Clarence was born July 27, 1922 in Wymark, SK, the third child of Abram and Justina Rempel. His early working years were spent on various farms. After moving to southern Alberta, the first of many moves, Clarence went into construction, building numerous homes here in Lethbridge. He also worked in pulp and paper production, retail business, and finance. Clarence was a successful businessman in the hotel and hospitality industry. He was a conscientious worker and a diligent provider for his family. Clarence was fearless in attacking new adventures and challenges in business. He also loved new cars, classy suits, music, playing computer solitaire, reading the newspaper and listening to the news every hour on the hour. He was a faithful church attender and over the years held various positions in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Clarence's greatest joy was spending time with his family. Whether it was in business with his children Terry and Darlene, recalling family history with his daughter Marlene, or traveling with his wife of 62 years or enjoying water sports in the sunny Okanagan with the grandkids. Besides his loving wife, Ilene, Clarence is survived by his daughter, Marlene Rempel of Raymond, his son, Terry (Ladene) Rempel of Kelowna, and his daughter, Darlene Vanleeuwen of Medicine Hat as well as grandchildren: Marla (Dave) Orr, Lana (Evan) Lamb, JoDee (Bryan) Schramm, Kari (Mike) Lawlor, Darcy (Kim) Rempel, Natalie (Ross) Kirkpatrick, Amber Vanleeuwen, and Blaine (Amber-Lee) Vanleeuwen. He also leaves to mourn his passing one sister-in-law (Doris), 19 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Clarence was predeceased by three brothers, a sister, and his parents. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS, Lethbridge Stake Centre, 2410-28 Street South. Friends may meet the family at the church from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. prior to the service. The interment will take place on Thursday, June 4, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at The Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Edmonton.
