Byron Nilsson

BYRON RAY NILSSON, beloved husband of Irma Nilsson of Lethbridge, passed away at the Edith Cavell Centre peacefully, with his family at his side, on Monday, October 10, 2011 at the age of 98 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Irma, his brothers: Garth (Nellie) of Lethbridge, Dean of Lethbridge, and Bert of Warner; his step-sons Tim (Betty) of Calgary, and Dave (Louise) of Whiterock, BC; four grandchildren, and one great grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews. Byron was predeceased by his first wife Harriet, his father Raymond, his mother Pearl, and his sister Margaret. Byron was born on May 27, 1913 in Stirling, Alberta to Raymond and Pearl Nilsson. He and Harriet enjoyed their early years farming at Wrentham and Warner, and working at Waterton Park. In 1977 Byron married Irma Shaw and they enjoyed over 34 years of golf, curling, bridge and gardening. Friends may meet the family on Friday evening, October 14 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A celebration of Byron's long and happy life will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at CHRISTENSEN SALMON GENERATIONS FUNERAL HOME, 703-13 Street North, Lethbridge. Interment to follow at Archmount Cemetery, Lethbridge. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Lethbridge, #402-740-4 Ave. S, Lethbridge, AB T1J 0N9.
