
AYAKO (ALICE) OMAE (nee Kamitakahara) passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at her home in River Ridge, Lethbridge. She was predeceased by her husband Seizi, infant son Shoichi, parents Yaye and Miichiro (Fred) Kamitakahara, and sister Akiko Harada. She was born in 1919 in Sea Island, BC, where she resided until she was interned in New Denver, BC, and has lived in Lethbridge since 1947. She is survived by her siblings: George, Alfie (Rosie), Sab (Kiyomi), Nobby (Kazie), Harold (Julie), and Kay. Also surviving are her sister-in-law Sae Omae of Toronto and her family, and brother-in-law Eiichi Harada of Richmond, BC. She leaves many nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and nephews, and special nephew and nieces, Andrew and Holly Kamitakahara, and Lily Omae. Ayako was a skillful seamstress who worked at Benjamin Cleaners, Lee Duck Cleaners, and Park Nielson until her retirement. She was a member of the Lethbridge Buddhist Church, and leaves behind many friends from the Fujinkai Ladies' Auxiliary. Flowers and koden are gratefully declined. A viewing will be held on Sunday, July 13 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Generations Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, July 14, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at GENERATIONS FUNERAL HOME, 703-13 Street North, Lethbridge with Rev. Y. Izumi officiating.
