SAMUEL AUBREY EARL was born in Mountain View, AB on July 9, 1909 and passed away peacefully two days before his 101st birthday, July 7, 2010. Aubrey is predeceased in death by his wife Thera Jean (Johnson) Earl married for 63 years and his second wife Araminta (Anderson) Earl married for 8 years. Aubrey is survived by three younger sisters; Joyce Le Baron of Denman Island, B.C., Ethel (Hank) Schilling of Mukilteo, Washington and Du Elle (Garth) Lybbert of Hayden, Idaho, his Sons; Arman (Dee Ann), Brent, Darwin (Jeanette), Malcolm Earl; 14 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. Aubrey was born in the era of horse and buggy and lived a century later in the era of computers, jets and I-pods. After graduating from high school in 1925, he earned a teaching diploma from the Normal School in Calgary. Education was his forte. He received his Bachelors degree from Brigham Young University at Provo, Utah. His Masters and Doctorate degrees were earned from the University of Montana at Missoula. He was an inspiration to many students as a Teacher, Principal, Superintendent of schools, Director of Student Education in the Department of Education in Edmonton and Professor and Director of Student Teaching at the University of Alberta. He joined the new University of Lethbridge in 1967 as a Professor. As the University matured he was instrumental in developing the prestigious Teacher Education Program there. Later, he was appointed the Associate Dean of Education at the University of Lethbridge. His life was a life of service in the LDS church as a teacher, bishop, high counsellor and temple worker. Aubrey was a dedicated student of religious and other various topics. He was also an avid reader. Aubrey and Thera enjoyed traveling, family reunions, their Magrath acreage, Arabian horses, family activities and reading. Aubrey lived life to the fullest and died in peace. Friends may meet with the family from 10:00 A.M. to 10:45 A.M. prior to the service. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M., on Saturday, July 10, 2010 at the THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER DAY SAINTS, Fairmont Chapel, 205 Fairmont Blvd. S., Lethbridge, AB with Bishop Don Gibb, officiating. Interment to follow in Mountain View Cemetery.
