Steven Chatterton Obituary

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Steven Richard Chatterton, who left us far too soon at the age of 17 on March 25, 2025.
Steven was the beloved son of Alison and David Chatterton, and a devoted big brother to Anna, Thomas, and Katelyn. He is survived by his grandparents Richard and Julie Chatterton, and Ron and Charlotte MacDonald.

He was the kind of student you never forgot if you ever had the privilege to teach him. He performed and sang with the LCI Chamber and Jazz Choirs.  He also performed in the LCI Drama productions for the past three years. His versatility as an actor allowed him to take on a variety of roles including the Scarecrow in "Choose Your Own Oz", John in "Peter Pan the Musical", and Volde in "Puffs".  His musical ability extended to playing guitar, piano and the trumpet in his middle school band.
He was a natural athlete and although training for him was less enjoyable and often avoided, he joined his sister Anna in cross-country this year helping the LCI cross country team win the provincial title. He would support and run alongside his younger brother Thomas at the annual pumpkin run and loved playing baseball with his family in the park.
He was also a certified lifeguard and worked as a slide guard at the YMCA. His charisma made it easy to make friends among fellow staff members and community members using the facility. Steven had completed all his high school graduation requirements and had officially received his diploma. By the end of the school year, he would have earned an impressive 173 credits, a testament to his dedication and drive.
Steven was a natural leader and adventurer. He participated in FACES, a youth leadership wilderness program, for three consecutive years; a place where he thrived in the outdoors and grew in skill and confidence. He loved camping, rock climbing, and hiking, and found joy and peace in nature. He was fearless on his outdoor adventures. On his hikes he was intentional about taking time to see the beauty in the little things and had the ability to catch the majesty and life that others may miss.
Though he called many places home, Steven spent four years living in Nottingham England. Here from age one to five a community of friends joined in his formative years that shaped his early experiences, global outlook, and sparked an interest in history and architecture.
A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Steven was actively involved in his church community and was preparing to serve a full-time mission.
Steven was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His life, though far too short, was filled with love, meaning, and impact.
