It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Rae Marie Nelson in the early hours on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at the age of 93 years in Lethbridge, Alberta. She is now reunited with her husband, Gordon Nelson.
Her memory will be cherished by her children, Ford (Darlene) Nelson, Shannon (Kevin Lamb) Nelson, Kash (Jari Jo) Nelson; ten grandchildren, Sacha (Matthew) O’Hara, Cole (Tanya) Nelson; Jasmine Berg, Dallas Halko; Nicole (Dwayne) Quinton, Kurt (Christine Bordman) Nelson, Kourtney (Ken) Skipworth, Kyle Nelson; Nicholas Nelson and Casey (Ashley Hansen) Nelson; eighteen great-grandchildren, Gracelyn, Aydia, Zaryn; Haley, Falen; Chase, Jadalyn, Savannah; Kasha, Jadyn (Bailey Oakley); Kace, Keston, Kamryn; Rylee, Mercer, Daryn; Kourt; and Taya; one great-great-grandson, Kolten; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
She is predeceased by her husband, Gordon Nelson; son, Bart Nelson; parents, Max & Pearl Bradshaw; sister, Maxine; and grandsons, Nick Nelson & Dallas Halko.
Growing up on the ranch, Rae loved horses and was a member of the Palomino Horse Club, performing at fairs and exhibitions. In high school, she was on the Alberta Basketball Team, played softball, and later in her life, she golfed- especially when her and Gordon went Snow Birding in Arizona. One particularly special season, she achieved two hole-in-ones in one month!
Her children will always appreciate her sewing and knitting throughout their lives. Gordon and Rae were always known for their spectacular Jitter Bug Dance Moves.
Cremation has taken place. A family gathering will be held in her honor, next summer at her family home, the Birdseye Ranch.
