Nicholas Woods Obituary

Nicholas Shane Woods of Lethbridge, Alberta, passed away at St. Michael’s Palliative Care Unit on December 31, 2025. Nick is survived by his parents, Shane and Tami Woods of Lethbridge, Alberta; his sister, Tianna O’Connor (Shawn); his nieces, Sophie and Ireland O’Connor, also of Lethbridge; and his brother, Scott Woods (Naomi), of Prince Rupert, British Columbia. He is also survived by his maternal grandmother, Marlene Penner of Linden, Alberta, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Nick was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Menno Penner, and his paternal grandparents, Maurice and Noelle Woods.

Nick was born on August 18, 1994, and grew up in Lethbridge. From the time he could walk to the day he died, he was captivated by nature. He loved bugs, snakes, reptiles, animals, space, and especially the ocean. He spent his childhood outdoors—camping, hiking, and exploring the natural world. This love of adventure followed him into adulthood, and he spent as much time as he could outside.

Nick also revelled in being as strong as he could be and spent countless hours working out, running, and lifting weights. He had a very strong work ethic, and that, combined with his physical strength, led him to a job working with concrete, which he took great pride in. In 2023, Nick fulfilled a lifelong dream of living by the ocean and moved to Prince Rupert to live with his brother, Scott, and work for Rupert Wood and Steel. He had plans to earn his Red Seal in carpentry when he experienced his first seizure on his 29th birthday and was subsequently diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. He then returned to Lethbridge for treatment.

In February 2024, Nick married Sarah LeMay and welcomed her three children, Addison, Lily, and Dominic, into his life. During his fight with cancer and throughout his treatment, Nick remained strong, determined, and steadfast—defying every hurdle right to the end and inspiring everyone who knew him. Nick will be remembered for his loyalty, strength, perseverance, and his love of family and of life. Nick always had the biggest hands.
