Mary "Alice" Fenton

Mary “Alice” Fenton, beloved wife of the late Austin Strickland passed away on November 29, 2024 at the Willow Creek Continuing Care Centre in Claresholm at the age of 91 years.

Alice Fenton (née Feltmate) was a dedicated schoolteacher in her early years. She later married Charles Fenton, with whom she had six children. After raising her family, Alice worked as a ward clerk at St. Martha’s Hospital in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. Following the passing of her beloved husband, Charles, on January 18, 1982, Alice found love again and married Austin Strickland in 1987. The couple moved to Lethbridge, Alberta, where they made their home and enjoyed the remainder of their lives together.

Alice is survived by her children Linda MacDonald (Donnie), Julie Fenton (Eric), Donna Myers (Ashley) and John Fenton (Peggy); daughter-in-law Lynn Fenton; 12 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, and their families.

She was predeceased by her 1st husband Charles Fenton; sons Eric Robert Fenton and Arthur James Fenton; 2nd husband Austin Strickland; her parents Nathaniel & Mary Feltmate. Alice was also predeceased by her siblings, all of whom have passed before her.

The family will hold a Celebration of Alice’s Life at a later date in Nova Scotia, where she will be laid to rest beside Charles Fenton.
