Marvin Dale Nelson, beloved husband of Cheryl Nelson, passed away on Friday, September 27, 2019 in Lethbridge at the age of 74 years.
Marv will be dearly missed by his wife, Cheryl, and her daughter Kelcie (Corby) Urban; grandchildren Ariah and Rome. He is also survived by his sisters Karma Porter and Barbara (Joe) Juhasz; brother Mark (Pat) Allen and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Robert Nelson; his mother Venice Nelson; his brother Tony Allen; and his brother-in-law Larry Porter.
Marv was born on March 1, 1945, and raised on the family farm at Del Bonita, AB, moving to Lethbridge after completing high school. He worked as a salesman or partsman, employed by various Lethbridge businesses, mainly Oliver Industrial, Beny Chev Olds, Premier Lubricants and Lethbridge Dairy Mart. As a faithful member of First United Church, he served on the Church Board, was chair of the Pastoral Care and Outreach committee, and the “sound guy” for many years.
Marv loved to go camping, and was an avid fan of the Lethbridge Hurricanes.
A kind, loving and gentle man, he will be remembered for his good nature and friendly smile by all who knew him.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2019 at 1:00 pm at Christensen Salmon Generations Funeral Home, 703 – 13 St N, Lethbridge, AB with Rev. Glenda Wert officiating.
