Martha (nee Ratzlaff) Pauls, beloved wife of the late David Pauls, passed away at Taber Linden View, Taber, AB with family by her side.
Martha was born in Poland to Erich and Agnetha (nee Janzen) Ratzlaff – the eighth of nine children. She was 9 years old when WW II began. Inspite of hardships Martha placed her trust in Jesus her Saviour. With assistance from family and MCC she, together with her parents and sister, immigrated to Canada in October 1948 – arriving at Pier 21- Halifax, NS. September 2, 1951 David and Martha were married in Linden, AB and later settled in Coaldale, AB. They were married 58 years.
Martha, always a busy person, held many different jobs. Her dream job was owning her own business in Coaldale – Martha’s Draperies and Fabric.
Martha was an active member in her church – Coaldale Mennonite Brethren Church. Active in Ladies Aide (sewing for MCC projects, serving at activities in church), Meals on Wheels and MCC Thrift Store. She also enjoyed travelling, playing games and music. Martha was an excellent cook and baker and loved to entertain.
Martha “Oma” is survived by her children: Rita Stobbe (Ed), Rudi Pauls (Sylvia), Haidee Voorhorst (Henry) and Nancy Meyer.
13 Grandchildren and 21 Great Grandchildren. Sisters-in-law: Martha Prochnau of Edmonton, AB and Ida Pauls of Calgary, AB Also numerous nephews and nieces.
There will be a private family viewing and internment at the Coaldale Mennonite Cemetery.
Martha’s Celebration of Life will be held at the Coaldale Mennonite Brethren Church
