Her three children were all born in Calgary. In 1979 she met Roxy McClung at a hospital in Calgary and was introduced to the LDS church. She and her first husband joined in 1981. Shortly after moving to Cardston, she resumed her nursing career, working first at the Auxiliary Hospital and then in Homecare, where she finished her career. Lani loved nursing. She was suited for the work as she was always compassionate and caring of her patients and clients who invariably became her lifelong friends. She was a volunteer of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Cardston Hospital and has been active in the LDS church serving in many positions over the years.
