Lila Jean Charles

    Lila Jean Charles passed away peacefully at St. Michael’s on April 15, 2022.

    She is the loving mother of Paul (Carol Ann) of St. Albert AB, Dale of Lethbridge AB, and Mark of Nanaimo BC. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

    Lila was predeceased by her son; Bruce Charles, her brother; Sidney Thompson and her parents; Sid and Jean Thompson.

    Lila Jean Charles was born on September 4, 1936. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Her love of life and people touched the lives of all who knew her. Lila was married to Paul Sr. for 34 years. During that time the family travelled extensively with different postings. Paul Sr. served in the Air Force as a pilot. They lived on three continents; North America, Europe and Africa. Lila was a strong woman and mother who raised four active and challenging boys.

    Lila loved curling, playing in Winnipeg, Manitoba and Edmonton, Alberta. When moving to Edmonton, Lila went to work at J2 on the Military Base, retiring in 1996. She moved to Lethbridge in 2007. It was there she became very active in Nord-Bridge Sr Centre, the Army and Navy Club and The Legion. She enjoyed all of her new friends and even took up Floor Curling (which she won medals for!) and shuffleboard. During this time in Lethbridge she travelled many times to Puerto Vallarta.

    Lila will be missed by all. Donations may be made in Lila’s name to the S.P.C.A.

    A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, April 25, 2022 at 1:00 pm at Christensen Salmon Generations Funeral Home, 703 – 13 St. N., Lethbridge.
