June (McKinnon) Garrett

June Garrett, beloved wife of the late Robert Garrett, passed away peacefully at St. Michael’s Health Centre in Lethbridge, Alberta, on June 12, 2023, at the age of 94 years.

June is the loving mother of Lori Lynn (Kim) Jones, Fredrick George (Christine) Garrett (dec.), and Donald Robert (Lisa) Garrett.

She is also survived by her grandchildren: Lane (Juliana), Patricia, Duncan, Andrew (Rayanne), Robert, and Rebecca. As well as by her great grandchildren: Kylen, Raven, Levi, Stephanie, Samantha, Lily, and Scarlett.

June was born on March 6, 1929 to Donald and Gertrude McKinnon in Fort William, Ontario, as a twin to her sister Mae. She was raised with her five siblings: Maud, Marion, Donalda, Hector, and Mae.

She married Robert William Garrett on December 27, 1957 in Thunder Bay, Ontario, where they had their three children: Lori, Fred, and Dan. June was employed by the Department of National Revenue as a secretary for fifteen years, and after moving to Lethbridge in 1977, she was an executive assistant at Lethbridge Correctional Facility for nine and a half years! She was always active in her church, the last being Park Meadows Baptist Church.

She will be dearly missed.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at Archmount Cemetery in Lethbridge, AB.
