Julia Nicoll Obituary

Julia Ann Nicoll of Raymond passed away at Raymond Hospital on Monday, July 19th, 2021 at the age of 82 years old.

She is the loving mother of;

 Michael (Michelle) Lyons - Grandchildren: Heather (Moila) Aokuso; Christine Lyons; Brendon (Camila) Lyons - Great Grandchildren - Ammon, Leilani, Kiara and Sydney Aokuso

 Luci (Daniel) Canizzo- Grandchildren: Brianna Labrum; Katie (Rob)  Forbes; Meggan (Phillip) Welker; Candice Olive - Great Grandchildren - Nathan Olive

 Terry (Lori) Lyons- Grandchildren: Jessica (Andrew) Christensen; Brittany (Tim) Blackmore; Joshua (Talissa) Lyons; Zachery (Lindsey) Lyons - Great Granchildren - Cadence, Nixon, Piper, and Rhordan Christensen; Jaxon, Brooklynn, and Noah Blackmore ; Emerson Lyons ; Adyson and Kynlee Baceda

She is also survived by her sister, Maggie Mae (Harry) Green, and was predeceased by her brother, Donald (Rosemarie) Nicoll.

 

Julia was born in Owen Sound, Ontario, on February 14th, 1939. Her parents were James Alexander Nicoll and Francis Geraldine (Swayze) Nicoll. She was married to Alex Lyons (who also is from Owen Sound) from 1958-1989.

Her passion in life was to teach children, and so she became a school teacher at the early age of 18 where she taught in a one room schoolhouse at Keppel Township School in Ontario.

After getting married, she dedicated her life to raising her 4 children. She then went on to pursue her Early Childhood Education in Orillia, Ontario, in her early 40s. From there she started to teach again in the Calgary area, specializing in special needs children. 

Julia loved to be in nature and enjoyed gardening, swimming and all types of music she could dance to. She was a creative person who enjoyed writing. She loved to laugh and share her joy of life with those around her. She was a free spirit pursuing her love for God.

 

A memorial Service to celebrate Julia Nicoll will take place at the Pavillion, next to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Stake Center, - 2 North 200 West-  on Tuesday, July 27th.  Family dinner will take place at 6pm and at 7pm all are welcome to join for the memorial service.
