It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister. Gerda passed away on Sunday, September 20 at the age of 87 years.
Gerda was born in Reichenberg (Liberec) Czech Republic on June 8, 1933. She met her future husband, George, in Diefenbach, Germany. After separately immigrating to Canada, they married on March 21, 1953. She dedicated her life to raising her four children, and supporting the family. She worked as a seamstress, and then administrator for George’s Construction Ltd. She enjoyed hosting parties, playing music, finding a good bargain, and winning at cards.
She was predeceased by George, her husband of 61 years. Gerda will be sadly missed by her sister Traudel (Ernst) Heller, children Edith (Doug) Phillips, Henry (Lori), Don and Gary (Lisa), her twelve grandchildren Lana (Natalie), Lucy (Chris), Kevin, Adam, Miyah (Mike), Amanda (Ryley), Sadie (Casey), Megan, Mason, Justine, Savannah and Bronson, and five great grandchildren Otto, Heston, Esme, Anderson and Summer.
