Heavy hearts had to say an unexpected goodbye to our father, grandfather, brother, son and uncle, Gerald Walter Brown, beloved husband of the late Deanna Lynn Brown. Gerald passed away December 19, 2025, at the age of 64 years.
He was born in High River, Alberta on November 7, 1962, to Walter and Jennie Brown; he was the youngest of four.
Gerald was a loving dad to his two children Christopher Brown of Didsbury, Danielle (Brock) Bodnar of Lethbridge. He was Grandpa to his 6 cherished grandchildren, Haley Brown, Logan Bodnar, Brenden Bodnar, Kaesyn Brown, Lynden Brown and Aspynn Brown (and their mom, Justine Mertins).
He is survived by his sister Carol (Clarence) of Strathmore, Alberta; sister Dianna (John) Gerlitz of High River, Alberta and brother Jim (Sharron) Brown of Longview, Alberta along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. In his youth he played hockey and enjoyed writing poems which he had won an award for in high school. He had written them up until 2005 and picked it back up again after the passing of his wife to pen a nice tribute to her.
Gerald went to Okotoks Sr. High School where he met the love of his life Deanna. He graduated in 1979 and Deanna in 1980. They married in 1981 and had Christopher and Danielle before 1986, they lived in Okotoks up until 1998 where they relocated to Taber, AB and moved to their final residence in 2006 to Lethbridge, Alberta.
He was a proud and enthusiastic hockey dad to his son and committed sport dad to his daughter. He became a grandpa at the ripe young age of 39 and enjoyed every moment he spent with all his grandchildren.
After his wife’s passing, Gerald spent most of his time doting on his dog Nikki, rocking out to the music from his record player, spending time with his grandchildren and having weekly chats with his daughter and son-in law.
Gerald has joined his wife and parents Walter and Jennie Brown in the Kingdom of Heaven.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026 at Christensen Salmon Generations Funeral Home, 703 – 13 St N. Lethbridge at 11:00 a.m.
