George Wall

Mr. George Wall, beloved husband of Dianne Mae of Lethbridge, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Monday, June 28, 2021, at the age of 79 years.

George is the loving father of Brian of Edmonton & Leann of Edmonton, stepfather to Allison Walter of Edmonton, Jaye Walter of St. Albert, and Robin Walter of Edmonton. George will also be lovingly remembered by his 8 grandchildren; brother Garth (Anne); sisters-in-law Carol Rarog, Sandra Lambertus (Marc), Penina Popper (Jeff), Kelly Bullock (Terry); brother-in-law Rob Gott as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and their families.

He was predeceased by his first wife Sandra Lee Merritt Wall on October 7, 1993; his mother June Gregson Wall (1992); his father Leland Scott Wall (1992); brothers Gregg (2006) and Terry (2014) and sister-in-law Elaine (2018).

George was born September 12, 1941, to Leland Scott Wall and June Gregson Wall in Cardston, Alberta. The family moved to Lethbridge when he was 6. In 1953 George’s Dad and Uncle Winston Gregson bought a small printing shop and turned it into Paramount Printers. When George turned 16 the family moved to Edmonton when George’s dad was chosen to be the Queen’s Printer for the Alberta Government. George followed his father in a career choice and quit school to apprentice as a printer. To increase his skills, he moved to the United States and worked in a variety of printing businesses. He returned to Edmonton and was hired by the Edmonton Journal. He got the golden handshake after 30 years there. George had met and married Sandra Merritt and became and active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They had 2 children Brian and Leann and raised them in Spruce Grove. Sandra passed away in 1993 and George remarried in 1995 to Dianne Gott Walter.

Friends may meet the family at Christensen Salmon Generations Funeral Home, 703-13th Street North on Friday, July 2, 2021, from 3:00pm-5:00pm.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00pm on Monday, July 5, 2021, at the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2410 28 Street South, Lethbridge with Bro. Ed Wilson, conducting.

An interment will be held on Monday, July 12, 2021, in the Westlawn Cemetery, Edmonton.

Memorial donations may be made in George’s name to the Lethbridge Food Bank, 1016 2nd Avenue South, Lethbridge, Alberta T1J 0C9 OR to the Lethbridge Soup Kitchen/ Lethbridge Stabilization Centre and Shelter, 802 2 Avenue “A” North, Lethbridge, AB T1H 0C9.
