With heavy hearts, the family announces the peaceful passing of Garnet Cawthra on his 80th birthday, July 22, 2021.
He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife Maxine and their family.
Garnet Frederick Cawthra was born in Herbert, Saskatchewan on July 22, 1941.
His life took him in many directions with him finally making Cardston, Alberta his home with his wife Maxine.
Garnet was always a kind and caring man. He was an entrepreneur, salesman and business owner. His businesses were Garnet’s Meat and Grocery and Ambassador Appliance. In his later years he helped many people choose their perfect home on wheels.
Garnet’s greatest joy came from his family. He was married to his wife Maxine for 57 years and they had four children. Sue (Ward) Eggli, Brent (Crystal) Cawthra, Scott (Tobi) Cawthra, and Deanna (Kris) Bower.
He will be missed by all, including his Grandchildren, Paige (William) Douglas, Teah (Brent) Yeomans, Garrett (Levi) Cawthra, Chase Eggli, Danica Eggli, Cassidy (Mathieu) McCulloch, Mariah Cawthra-Petrie, Bryce (Julia) McCulloch, Wyatt Bower and Keaton Bower; his great-grandchildren, Alfie Douglas, Arthur Douglas, Archie Douglas, Jace Yeomans, Asher Cawthra, and Isabelle Vigna; as well as numerous nieces and nephews along with several family fur babies, and many friends along the way who became family. Garnet further enjoyed rock collecting, biking, camping, driving, and finding the occasional antique treasure.
More recently, Garnet enjoyed playing crib with his friends and keeping active by walking at the Remington Carriage Museum and driving his scooter to visit neighbourhood friends.
A gathering to celebrate Garnet's life will take place on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 - 1:00 PM, at Christensen Salmon Generations Funeral Home reception centre. 703 - 13 St N, Lethbridge, AB. Due to severe allergies, we request, with gratitude, that Garnet's celebration be a scent free gathering.
In lieu of flowers, family would appreciate a donation made in Garnet's name to the Cardston Senior Centre (c/o Christine Archibald) 260 1 St W, Cardston, AB T0K 0K0
