David Baker

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of David Ernest Baker recently of Lethbridge, Alberta, on March 30, 2023. Dave was blessed with 67 years of an amazing life.

Dave was born on November 18, 1955 in Fernie, B.C. to proud parents, Ernie and Ann Baker. Dave enjoyed all the outdoor pursuits the Elk Valley had to offer such as Windsurfing, Skiing, Black Powder shooting and spending time with his brother, Warren helping with team roping. Later he found his new passion riding his Harley. One of the highlights of his life was when he was selected as a Young Voyager where he travelled across Canada. He was a man of many skills starting with Locksmithing, Carpentry and Scaffolding. He was very proud of the time he spent in Japan building homes. Dave seemed big and burly and a little rough around the edges but really, he was a giant teddy bear with a heart of gold.

Dave married the love of his life, Blanche Marie Wiley, feeling his life complete with gaining his 2 cherished sons Scott and Evan Davis but once his grandchildren came along he knew the greatest joy of all. Dave adored his family and made them the priority in his life.

Dave is survived by his children, Scott (Michelle) Davis and Evan Davis; his cherished grandchildren Grayson, Hudson, Tyson, and Addyson. His mother, Ann Baker; his sister, Lynn (Ed) Wilson; brothers, Warren (Debbie) & Ron (Token); numerous nieces, nephews and extended family; as well as his many close friends.

Dave was predeceased by his wife, Blanche Baker in Nov, 2022; his father, Ernie Baker; his father and mother-in-law Ralph and Lois Wiley; his grandparents; nephew, Adam Wilson and many close friends over the years.

As per Dave’s wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. Instead, a private gathering will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to a local charity.
