Colleen Marguerite Stephen

    Colleen Marguerite (Offet) Stephen was born March 30, 1941 in Edmonton, AB. She married her childhood sweetheart William David Stephen (Bill) in 1957 at the age of 16. This was the beginning of a long and lasting love affair. They had three children together to help fulfill their journey.

    She is survived by her loving husband Bill.  Their children Cindy (Gerald) Fyfe, Tony (Sassa) Stephen, Leisa (Mike) Saunders, 12 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

    Colleen never finished high school, but that did not deter her. As a young couple with younger children they did not have much, but that did not stop her from constantly learning. The library became her school.  She was an avid reader until her last days. 

    She led by example in her family. Although she never graduated from high school, she ran her own business, went to University of Lethbridge and graduated in 1991 with a degree in Psychology, to mention a few of her extraordinary achievements. She was the first person in her family to get a degree from a university.

    Some of the highlights and lowlights from her life included numerous trips and cruises when her health permitted. She was married for time and eternity in the Cardston temple to her sweetheart Bill, May 13, 1982. She served with Bill on a Stake mission and full time mission. In August of 1995 she survived a vary invasive surgery for a brain tumor and went through a long recovery. She suffered a debilitating pneumonia in 2019 and survived heart failure in 2021.

    May 29, 2022 when her time came her passing was quick and at home as she wanted. We will miss her sense of humor, loving gentle smiles, tender hugs and willingness to be there as much as she could. She is happily reuniting with her parents who loved her. She is finally pain free. We know that she was also welcomed home by our older brother Jesus Christ who lovingly paid with his life so that we could return to our heavenly home.

    In the eyes of society, she was just an ordinary woman, in the eyes of her family and friends she was an extraordinary woman who lived an extraordinary life. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

    Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at 12:00 noon at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Knight Street Chapel, Raymond with Bishop Regan Steed officiating. Friends may meet with the family from 10:00 to 11:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church.  Interment will follow in the Temple Hill Cemetery, Raymond. 

    In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Colleen's name to the Lethbridge Street's Alive Mission, 323 4 St S, Lethbridge, AB T1J 1Z9.
