Colleen (Christensen) Steed

Colleen Steed, 93 of Raymond, Alberta passed away on the 28 of January 2023 in the Raymond Hospital. Colleen was predeceased by her husband Robert Dean Steed and son Stephen. She is survived by her daughters Carol (Roy) Singleton, Rae Ann (Kevin) Archibald and sons Robin (Ramona) and Tyler Steed, her brothers Doug (Marie) and Gary Christensen. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.

Colleen was born in Raymond, Alberta on the 17 of October, 1929 to Ezra and Violet Christensen, the fifth child in a family of eight and grew up in Raymond.

She obtained a degree in Education from the University of Alberta in 1950. She met Robert Steed there and they were married in 1955. Colleen loved teaching. She also enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking and keeping a well-ordered home and was an accomplished organist and pianist. Her interests included music, reading, learning about the world and watching hockey and baseball. She loved hiking, camping, and fishing. Her favorite place was Waterton Park and hiked until she was 86. She loved serving in her church, playing the organ and being a leader for youth and women’s organizations.  She also served in the Great Lakes Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 1952-53, and with her husband Robert in French Polynesia, 2001-2002.

She will be dearly missed by her family.

Funeral Services will be held in Raymond at the Knight Street Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, February 4th, 2023.
