Clark Torgersen Figenshau

    CLARK FIGENSHAU of Lethbridge, Alberta, beloved husband of Christina, passed away at Chinook Regional Hospital on Monday, September 9, 2019 at the age of 91 years.

    Clark was born on December 22, 1927, in the small town of Irma, Alberta. He was the eldest of four, with two brothers, Vern and Harry, plus one sister Ida. When they were quite young in age both their Mother and Father passed away leaving the the two oldest boys to head off to work, first at a logging camp and then as farm hands. While living in a bunk house Clark picked up a guitar, and by ear he taught himself how to play. An accident on his Indian Motorcycle left Clark on crutches for two full years and this brought on a change of career path. Attending Calgary's Henderson Business School, Clark became an Accountant. It was also here where he met the love of his life, who would soon be his bride, Miss Christina Borth. They had their first child, their daughter Merna. Clark worked in Calgary as an Accountant for CFCN Radio, and then moved west to Trail, BC for a job with CJAT Radio. This is where they completed their family with the birth of their son Van. The family of four then moved to Lethbridge where he was an accountant for CJOC and CHEC Radio stations. 

    Music was always a large part of Clark's life and he enjoyed entertaining with different musicians throughout the city and especially with his group 'The Sunset Four'. Once in their 40's, Clark and Chris found the joy in their new life as snowbirds as they began to spend winters in Apache Junction, Arizona. After retiring from a job as Driver Examiner for the Government of Alberta the next 40 winters would be spent with the close knit community they called their 'Arizona Family'. Clark brought his love of music and his banjo along each year where he played and entertained with many other musicians and 'The First Arizona Banjo Band'. 

    Clark began to drive taxi in Lethbridge, and was a proud member of the Busker's Association and entertained at events throughout the city. For many years the highlight of his week was playing banjo Saturday mornings at the Exhibition Park Farmer's Market.

    Referring to himself as a 'Jack of all trades, but master at none', Clark could fix almost anything around the house or on vehicles. He also enjoyed bird hunting and was a founding member of the Lethbridge Trap Shooting Club. A life member of the Lethbridge Senior Citizens Organization and Nordbridge Senior's Centre, plus the Number 8 Mine Society and the Lethbridge Humane Society. Clark never met a dog who wasn't his friend. He would carry treats in his pockets on his daily walks, enough for every dog he met each day.

    Clark will be sadly missed by his wife Christina, his daughter Merna (Robert) Baker of Lethbridge, son Van (Debi) Figenshau of Warner AB, brother Harry (Willie) Figenshaw, grandson Michael (Jackie) Baker and their children Jenna, Sara, Emma, and Liam Baker, plus granddaughter Lacy (Jason) Ebert and their children Maxwell, Simon and Jordyn Ebert.  He was predeceased by his grandsons William Baker and Jordan Figenshau, his brother Vern Figenshaw, and sister in laws Helen Figenshaw and Helga Figenshaw.

    A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, September 23, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Christensen Salmon GENERATIONS Funeral Home, 703 – 13 Street North, Lethbridge with Rev. Trevor Potter officiating.
