We are saddened to announce the passing of Audrey McGorman on Wednesday, March 17th at the age of 82.
Audrey is survived by her son Darrell McGorman (Joanne), brothers Don Dokimenko (Sis) & Gerry Dokimenko (Marilyn) and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Audrey was predeceased by her parents Elda and Paul and her common-law husband Glenn Clarke. Audrey will be greatly missed by her long-time friend and co-worker Dolores Mensch.
Audrey was ahead of her time. She was a career woman at a time when more traditional roles were the standard. Audrey always had an entrepreneurial spirit. She enjoyed many different roles throughout her career. Among her many endeavours, she ran the Corral Drive-In in Calgary, owned, and ran Bob’s Burgers franchise plus a diner in the York Hotel in Lethbridge. In the twilight of her career, Audrey’s returned to be a hairstylist as an independent contractor for various care homes in Lethbridge.
Audrey had a sincere love for animals. She took care and loved numerous cats and dogs over the years. Audrey was also an amazing gardener and spent many hours taking care of her garden. Audrey was a feisty individual and would fiercely advocate for her friends and family.
Audrey will be deeply missed by her only son, friends and family.
In her honour, donations may be made to the Charity of your choice. Cremation has been entrusted to Christensen Salmon Generations Funeral Home.
